Gage's Gossip: Top Fantasy RBs for the 2019 Season

So the fantasy season is almost upon us. With 32 teams around the league some teams just have better situations then others. Today I will take you down the belly of the beast that is the Fantasy RB 1!

But before we get there let me lay the ground rules. I want this list to be a top 6-9 players, and I want to emphasize a clear drop off, or tier, in the running backs of the NFL. After these running backs are off the draft board you most certainly would want to attack WR because the value of these studs is just that high. Without further ado!

Number 8: Joe Mixon, Bengals

Mixon is coming into his 3rd NFL season and has started to show signs of getting his feet set I'm the league. He faces off in one of the toughest divisions for 6 games which doesn't help him, but a strong nose for the end zone and less competition could result in an uptick in production, sneaking into the last spot of this high tier RB1.

Number 7: Todd Gurley, Rams

Now some people won't like seeing Gurley already in this list, but give me credit for including him at all. Obviously Todd has some serious talent when it comes to running and catching the football, the only issue with TGIII is his durability. An arthritic knee may cause some serious issues to his amazing pace the past few seasons, it may also not have much affect on him at all. At this point I truly think it's a guessing game as to how much pain he can take during the season.

Number 6: Melvin Gordon, Chargers?

Melvin Gordon is a beast of a runner out of Wisconsin with some minor injury concerns. His agent is currently working in the background to try to secure him some garaunteed money, and the chargers aren't biting so far. Making his status for the start of the season a real head scratcher. A true talent that can certainly be a top 5 guy, just a lot of head aches to deal with wondering if he will holdout for real or play out his current deal.

Number 5: Alvin Kamara, Saints

Alvin is a young gun who packs a serious punch to his game. Now that Mark Ingram has moved on to greener pastures, a lot of folks believe Kamara will steal the show and be the number 1 guy, but I haven't fallen for this kid just yet. A lot of mouths to feed in NO and an even bigger problem being the system they have always used. I see the addition of Murray really limiting the number of TDs this man gets to celebrate, keeping him out of my elite crew.

Number 4: Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys

Now that the cowboys have figured out how to get the most out of this man, you better watch out. I see big things coming this year for Zeke in the air and on the ground. A hard runner in the state of Texas that can catch the ball, if Dem Boys want to be anything of relevence, it will come off the back of Zeke. So far the only issues they have had to worry about have been some character issues off the field, but if Zeke can stay out of the paper for the bad news, he will bring fantasy owners to championships.

Number 3: Saquon Barkley, Giants

Not only did this man get over 100 targets in the air last year, but that was just his rookie season. Another year in the league with an abosmal team, Saquad should explode with potential and all the garbage points you need. The highlight reel himself would just need to play all 16 games and he'd be a shoe in for RB 1.

Number 2: Christian McCaffrey, Panthers

Another running back receiving over 100 targets, I see CMac doing it again and again. His game seems almost matchup proof with the way he catches the ball in games they are behind. Not to mention the way he's used in games the Panthers win is dominant as well. This man is what you want from your number 1 pick, 20 points a week, every week. He delivers.

Number 1: David Johnson, Cardinals

One of the riskier players on the list, DJ has shown great potential with the ability to catch the ball. Has a great will to break talked and find the way to the end zone. If the Cards can use him like the other studs in the league, I don't doubt his goal of 1000 yards rushing and receiving is very doable. I'm fact I put my money where my mouth is! If he accomplishes this feat, he will without a doubt be the leagues highest point scorer and the best 1st rounder you could get!

So there you have it! The top 6-9 RBs in fantasy football this year. This list was capped at 8 because after 8 I believe you get a much different RB then the guys listed above. Was there someone I missed?? Let me know on Twitter or Instagram @officialbudhole

Until next time buds!
